El Descansillo

We are Carmen and Chema, we like the simple life, without big complications, as natural as possible and close to nature. We live in Escalera, a small village of only 12 inhabitants, in the middle of the Alto Tajo Natural Park, surrounded by centenary junipers, a quiet place to rest and enjoy the wild nature. We cook with organic and healthy products: direct from our garden to the plate.
Since the beginning, forty years ago, sustainable tourism has been a way of life rather than a standard.
When we arrived, there were only six retirees living in the village. From them we learned that wisdom in which time seems to pass differently: the rush of the modern world did not exist. That was the beginning of our rural tourism project. We got down to work and in the goat haystack, we built what is now El Descansillo.
We used a lot of stone and a lot of wood, we tried to make it as ecological as possible. We knew from experience, that the modern and the ancient, the natural and the functional, have a meeting point: that is the essence of our rural hotel El Descansillo!
The rooms are spread over two floors, all with access to the corridors, with magnificent views of the Natural Park, an ideal place to relax with an aperitif, read a book or contemplate the immensity of the Milky Way at night.
