Ecotourism in the Natura 2000 Network in Castilla-La Mancha
LEADER Regional cooperation project, with a vertical, bottom-up approach, integrated by 9 Local Action Groups of Castilla – La Mancha, in collaboration with the environmental and tourism administration of the region, the Secretary of State for Tourism and linked to the Ecotourism Club in Spain.
Our objectives
- To create the product Ecotourism in Castilla-La Mancha in a selection of Natura 2000 Network sites with tourism companies that voluntarily wish to be trained and meet certain requirements to offer ecotourism experiences, and to promote the Natura 2000 Network sites in the 9 participating counties.
- Link the product to the Ecotourism Club in Spain to boost its promotion and ensure its continuity.
- Join our companies and tourist destinations tto the Ecotourism Club in Spain.
The project in figures
- 9 counties in the 5 provinces. 9 Local Action Groups
- A total area of 33,950 km2, 294 municipalities with 325,419 inhabitants.
- 78% of the SACs of Castilla – La Mancha, and 72% of the SPAs.
- More than 70% of the Natura 2000 Network in Castilla – La Mancha may be regulated by the Natura 2000 Network Tourism Sustainability Recognition System, with an innovative, demonstrative and exportable character, with an investment of 270,000 €.
