ÁGata Verde is an innovative project in the field of Ecotourism and Environmental Education, aimed at providing tools for learning about care and respect for the environment.

The activities aim to provide experiences and eco-adventures, the programme is unique and personal to the participants, with the aim of carrying out recreational activities in the area. direct contact with nature and learn from cultural values, adopting an attitude and commitment to know, respect, enjoy and participate in the conservation of natural and cultural resources.

It is a project designed and executed by ÁGata Verde that is developed within the limits of the ZEC-ZEPA “Sierra Morena” and of the Natural Park “Valle de Alcudia y Sierra Madrona”and includes different activities around its main attractions, such as its sky “Starlight” and the routes that highlight the great natural and cultural heritage of the area (archaeological sites, cave paintings, transhumance)

The themes and activities range from the observation of the fauna, flora and geology of the Natura 2000 area, volcanoes and mining, stargazing, transhumance, ethnobotany and ethnography, including the interpretation of traditional trades and the typical gastronomy of the area.

ÁGata Verde develops an Ecotourism experience in collaboration with other entrepreneurs and establishments in the ZEC-ZEPA Sierra Morena and its surroundings. The experience is accompanied by guided routes through the Natura 2000 area and the Natural Park, which end with workshops and visits to shops and establishments in the surrounding area. The activities are dynamic and entertaining, suitable for all ages.

Commitments to biodiversity conservation and local development

100% of our activities contribute to the conservation of biodiversity In our guided walking tours, we make sure that the group is involved in the collection of waste, that they do not disturb the flora or fauna, that they do not leave the marked paths or trails, the activities are programmed, designed for disseminate and promote the values of the ecosystem and the importance of the conservation of flora, fauna, geology, as well as cultural heritage “cave paintings”, traditions such as the transhumance and promotion of local produce. We eat in local restaurants and go to local shops, butcher shops, bakeries, supermarkets.

I collaborate with the naturalist association ANASMA n the Enlobados meeting, conservation and dissemination of theIberian wolf. As well as carrying out environmental voluntary work such as cleaning up waste in nature.

Scope of action

ZEC-ZEPA Sierra Morena and the Natural Park of the Alcudia Valley and Sierra Madrona, which includes the municipalities of Solana del Pino, Mestanza, Hinojosas de Calatrava, Fuencaliente and Almodóvar del Campo.

There are also interpreted visits to the cave paintings of the Batanera Cave and Collado del Águila, and interpretation of the history of Gea in the Los Pontones Mine, which is a site of geological interest (LIG) and a place of great historical and scenic interest. To get to know the Transhumance, a guided walking tour takes place, discovering nature, traditions and the Mesta, as well as the stars that accompany us day and night.
